Are you interested in some fun ideas aimed at making financial responsibility more appetising and fun for those who find it daunting. Let’s merge cost-savings with creativity, engaging some friends or family and making financial responsibility a shared and fun experience.
Challenge Yourself with a "No-Spend Day": Make Tuesdays [any day you prefer] your special day of the week when you only spend on absolute necessities. This could turn out to be a fun challenge with mates sharing creative ways of enjoying a day without spending money unnecessarily.
Turn Saving into a Game: Create a savings game where you round up every purchase to the nearest dollar and save the difference. This can be fun to track and see how quickly the savings add up! There are micro platforms e.g. Raiz & Spaceship that will round up for you.
Have a "Swap Party": Get friends & family together and exchange things that are surplus to requirement and no longer used. It's a great way to refresh wardrobes, kitchen gadgets, or book collections for free.
Fashion Swap on Social Media: Set up a social media event for a "fashion swap," where participants post photos of items they’re willing to trade. It’s a digital way to refresh wardrobes without spending money.
Swap Recipes: As a single Mum of three munchkins, I struggled to constantly come up with meal ideas. I asked mates to share their tastiest, easiest & cheapest recipes. It worked a treat! A win, win for everyone, we all benefited.
Cook and Freeze: Not all dishes lend themselves to being frozen but many do, like Spag Bol, casseroles/ stews, you know the ones I mean. If I didn’t feel like cooking after work, I’d go to the freezer and voilà meal done.
Mystery Meal Mondays: Dedicate a day to creating meals using only what's available in your pantry and fridge. Challenge yourself, friends and family members to concoct the most delicious "mystery meal" using existing ingredients. I love to do this before a grocery shop.
50% Off Deals for restaurants: Want to celebrate or simply treat yourself to an evening out. Book a ‘first table’ at thousands of restaurants and enjoy 50% off the food bill for two, three, or four people!, or perhaps some of your local restaurants have 50% off meals on a certain day.
Subscription Detox: Encourage a fun audit of all subscriptions (streaming services, magazines, apps) with the goal of eliminating repetitive services. Make it like a game where the family votes to keep the best and drop the rest!
Personal Finance Book Club: Start a book club featuring light-hearted financial books. Discuss the insights while sipping wine or tea, fostering a relaxed, engaging learning environment. [I have a great list on hand, email me if you would like a copy]
Coffee Catchup: A monthly catch up where the topic for discussion is money. ‘Marvellous Money Matters’ is the name given to such a catchup. A special group of women that get together and share their money insights. Truly beautiful to witness the support and encouragement of each other.
There are so many creative ways that we can save. Do you have a saving strategy that works for you and you would like to share, email it to me and I will share with our community.
Have some fun & Enjoy,
