Mind the Gap; Magic is Happening;✨
Share
When it feels like nothing’s happening, everything is quietly taking shape.
This is my take on a chapter of a book that I have recently read [and worked through the exercises] called ‘The Influence of Energy: Discover the Power of Marketing from the Heart’ written by Christine Berry. An elegant reframe of marketing and personal branding … fabulous!
In NLP terms why the Gap is so uncomfortable for many, is because of the vulnerability we feel in being Consciously Incompetent. It is during this stage that we often make a choice, ‘quit’ or ‘grit’ it out. The suggestions below I believe will go a long way to helping your ‘grit it out’
Exploring the Gap; with Trust, Kindness, and a Little Magic
We all know that space between where you are and where you want to be. It can feel uncertain, uncomfortable, even frustrating. But the truth is; The Gap isn’t empty. It’s full of quiet, intentional, and powerful transformation.
Think of the chrysalis: it looks still from the outside, but inside, something magnificent is taking shape; a butterfly in the making.

🌸 1. From Worry to Trust
Instead of asking “What if it doesn’t work out?” try softening it to “What if this is unfolding perfectly, even if I can’t see it yet?” You don’t have to chase or force things. Breathe, trust, and be kind to self. Sometimes we just don’t know and let that be OK.
🌿 2. Stay Grounded in the Present
This space can stir emotions. The mind is dealing with some threatening stuff; the Unfamiliar, the mind does not like the Unfamiliar and will try to draw you back to what is Familiar [the old way of being]. In this space your emotions will fluctuate. Avoid getting get swept up by every high or low. Keep your feet on the ground and your heart open. Walk, breathe, write, meditate; whatever helps you stay centred and grounded. For me its walking on the beach, getting sand between my toes.
✨ 3. Sense the Whispers
The universe, Higher Self, God, Source leaves us little clues along the way; a conversation, an unexpected idea, an intuitive nudge. Quiet whisper in your periphery, so be mindful. Notice them. Grasp the messages. Small signs can lead to big shifts.
💫 4. Move - Then Flow
Take the next step that feels aligned, then release your grip [control] on the timing and outcome. If you create a predetermined outcome, it is coming from the old ‘You’. The ‘You’ who has some current limitations, that is why you are doing the work. Why would you set an outcome from the old ‘You’? Energetically change the inside, the outside will follow. You’ve set things in motion. Trust that your actions are creating momentum, even if results aren’t visible yet. It is Powerful.
🦋 5. Honour The Gap as a Rite of Passage
Every creator, every therapist, every dreamer moves through this space. The discomfort isn’t a sign to stop - it’s proof that you’re evolving.
🌼 Trust the Invisible Work
What feels like waiting is actually working. The Gap is where the inner shifts happen, the quiet groundwork that allows new growth to take develop. Keep showing up. Stay aligned with your intention. Something beautiful is unfolding. Just like the chrysalis, you are changing from the inside out.
Ah, The Gap where magic is quietly happening, your goals sparkle into view, and BOOM!! 💥 excuses somehow grab the best seats.
When Excuses Aren’t Really Excuses
Cue the excuses.
“I’ll start next month.”
“I’m lazy, I always procrastinate.”
“I don’t have time.”
“I’m terrible with numbers.”
Sound familiar?
The truth is: sometimes those reasons really are just that…. excuses. A bit of avoidance, a dash of perfectionism, and a sprinkle of “I’d rather clean the fridge than look at my bank statement.”
BUT money, after all, speaks to our very survival and safety. It is worthy of self-reflection and exploration, don’t you figure?
So, these are the kind of things you can tweak. A small mindset shift here, a bit of structure there, a money coaching session and you’re moving again.
But other times… those so-called “excuses” aren’t about laziness or lack of discipline at all. They’re old stories in disguise, protective childhood responses running on autopilot from events that occurred or things said over the years.
Listen closely and you might hear what’s underneath:
“I don’t deserve money.”
“It’s not for people like me.”
“I’m not good enough.”
“If I have money, I’ll lose………..”
These aren’t just thoughts, they are emotional imprints.
They live deep in your mind, body, and your nervous system; shaped by your early experiences with money, family, and worth. They’re not you being “hopeless with money”; they are you staying safe in the only way you once knew how.
So before you judge yourself for procrastinating or avoiding, pause.
Ask:
👉 Is this behaviour that needs a simple tweak?
or
👉 Is this a trauma-informed pattern that needs compassion and healing?
Because once you make that distinction, you stop fighting yourself and start collaborating with yourself.
This is how the shift happens, not by forcing discipline, but by replacing shame with curiosity, and fear with understanding.
And yes, you can bring a little fun to it. Healing your money story doesn’t have to be all heavy lifting, It can be a playful experiment, a small win, or celebrating the fact that you even looked at your numbers today.
Progress, not perfection.
Curiosity, not criticism.
Become a Disciple to your Self-care not discipline.
Are you traversing your own ‘Gap’ or excuses tripping you up? You will benefit from a coaching session or therapy session with me. Believe me, I have been through the tweaking and the healing.
And this is what healing feels like:
Safe. Simple. Free.
Money is just one path to your healing; Change your money story, change your life,
Much Love
